Remnant: From the Ashes
On Remnant: From the Ashes I was an Associate Level Designer on the quest team for the DLC Subject: 2923. I blocked out, implemented, and designed quest tiles and boss arenas for the planet Reisum. I worked very closely with our combat designers and animation to make sure each boss fight was unique and challenging - who’s arenas provide the spectacular boss fights Remnant is known for.

Obryk The Shield Warden
The idea behind this arena is a gladiatorial pit where Obryk is the champion. This is world built by the viewing balcony surrounding the arena above and various implements and weapons throughout the pit.
The arena is kept smaller for Obryk to stick to his target to keep up his pressure while threatening players with his snowscreen attacks and phase change, which add an AoE attack. The many breakable in the room not only showcase his power but provide plenty of ammo to keep up the fight.
Erfor The Jackal
This fight is situated on a precarious iceberg with a cluster of large icebergs surrounding it. The main arena itself features several dangerous holes covered with wood Erfor can break with his ranged ice throw.
In order to prevent the arena from being more challenging than it needs to be, players must juggle the adds, the explosive rats that can also break the wood, and Erfor’s projectiles themselves when he jumps to one of the adjacent icebergs.

Felmourn Burrow Overworld Tile
With this Overworld tile the idea was to provide a hidden place with plenty of lore and nested secrets for the player to explore. The room with the Giant Vargyl bones and the Frostborne axe is the final secret of this tile.
At the very bottom of the flight of stairs in the cave this hidden room is teased by a torch-lit compartment behind the stairwell the player came down. In the following room there is a bookcase to the left and an obvious breakable wall to the right, to divert the players attention from the breakable bookshelf itself.
Inquisitive players who may have noticed the space behind the stairs may pick up on the shared wall between the stairwell and bookshelf. Breaking it uncovers a hole that can be crawled through to reach that compartment and breakable wood door, which hides the room with the axe.
